The term sustainable development was first used in 1987 in "The Brundtland Report" of the World Commission on Environment and Development of the UN.

"Meeting the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."
Under the concept of sustainable development is understood to have met the needs of the global society. The entire world's people need food, clothing, owning a home as a work worthy.
It is not difficult to understand, since there is considerable amount of information daily on the media we suffer a significant decline. Environmental disasters are frequent, climate change is not mere speculation, and poverty is now standard for many millions of people.
• 5 million children will die this year in Africa because of AIDS and lack of nutrition.
• 1 million Europeans die from causes arising out of snuff.
• 5 million people will die from the same cause in the world with an economic cost of 2,000 million.
Economic crises destroy jobs and affect the poor. Economic systems do not yield the expected results, impacting on all worldwide organizations.
In this situation we can say that change is needed.
The effects of human activity are destructive and beyond the possibilities of restoring the environment, but also of society itself is deteriorating daily. The human race is self-destructing.
Sustainable development has three pillars: Economic, Ecological and Social interacting sustainability by making it bearable, viable and equitable, with a cultural diversity coexisting successfully.
